How Agent Mag collects, uses, and protects your information.

Agent Mag ("we," "our," or "us") operates theagentmag.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have. We believe in transparency and minimal data collection — we only collect what we need to run the platform.

Information We Collect

  • Account information — name, email address, and profile details when you sign up via Google or GitHub OAuth.
  • Newsletter subscriptions — email address and subscription date when you subscribe to our newsletter.
  • Usage data — pages visited, features used, and interaction patterns to improve the platform experience.
  • Chat data — conversation history with our AI assistant, stored per-user for continuity across sessions.
  • Device information — browser type, operating system, and screen resolution for analytics and optimization.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the Agent Mag platform, including personalized content recommendations.
  • To send newsletters and editorial updates you've subscribed to via newsletter@theagentmag.com.
  • To improve our platform, content, and user experience based on aggregated usage patterns.
  • To communicate with you about your account, respond to inquiries, and provide support.
  • To display relevant job listings, tools, events, and resources based on your interests.

Data Storage & Security

  • All data is stored on Azure Cosmos DB within our Azure resource group (agentmag-rg), hosted in the East US 2 region.
  • Authentication is handled by Auth.js v5 with encrypted sessions stored in our database.
  • We use HTTPS everywhere and follow industry-standard security practices for data transmission.
  • Email communications are sent through Azure Communication Services with SPF, DKIM, and DKIM2 verification.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Cookies & Tracking

  • Session cookies — required for authentication and maintaining your logged-in state.
  • Preference cookies — to remember your theme (light/dark), reading preferences, and user mode.
  • We do not use third-party advertising trackers or sell data to ad networks.
  • Analytics are collected in aggregate to understand platform usage; no individual tracking profiles are created.

Third-Party Services

  • Google OAuth and GitHub OAuth — for account authentication. Subject to Google's and GitHub's privacy policies.
  • Azure Communication Services — for sending transactional and newsletter emails.
  • Stripe — for processing payments (when applicable). Subject to Stripe's privacy policy.
  • We do not integrate with social media tracking pixels or third-party advertising platforms.

Your Rights

  • Access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you at any time.
  • Correction — you can update your account information through your account settings page.
  • Deletion — you can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
  • Unsubscribe — every newsletter includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
  • Data portability — you can request your data in a machine-readable format.

Data Retention

  • Account data is retained as long as your account is active.
  • Newsletter subscription data is retained until you unsubscribe.
  • Chat session data is retained for the lifetime of your account to provide continuity.
  • After account deletion, your data is removed within 30 days from all active systems.
